There was getting my ass thoroughly chewed out when
I came home very late one night after forgetting to call. But I
remembered in time that Dan was a guy who knew firsthand all the
horrific reasons people sometimes didn’t come home when they were
supposed to, and I apologized and did my best never to forget
again.

I just gasped very loudly on the bus. I didn't expect that. My heart is still smithereens. I also love how I spent the first book complaining that I didn't have the details of their relationship prior to the book. And then this book gives us the flashbacks! This is like how Malice and Newcomer did a switch up on me in the best way. 🥰
