the more grown ups he meets the more and more the reader thinks “lowkey…. we’re kinda like weird and batshit crazy. tbh, what are we doing all this for?”

“grown ups are very odd”: a really unique way of making us questions what we as adults have come to deem very valuable and more so normalized in adulthood.
so far prince has met different kinds of men on their planets- the king (values authority), conceited man (values others admiration) and the drunkard (drinks away his shame about drinking)

so far, so beautiful and wise. lots about growing up and forgetting what it means to be a curious child (counting figures and asking questions about figures rather than qualities) and about how many things of importance can’t be evaluated from most to least important/ if it’s important to you, then it’s important.
