Looks interesting

Seems every novel of gvh people say the same thing, Great Dialogue. And so far it's been true of all but 1 that I've read.

I just checked. I read it twice within 2 years ... and now I wanna read it again. It's that good.

Not sure ... because looking at the list I remember really liking Patriot and Cogan's too. And maybe I liked Digger's best of them all. I'd say that there are 3 or 4 that are equally top-notch. So: Rat, Digger, Patriot, and Cogan were super-good, if I can trust my memory at all.

Cogan has been the one I've enjoyed most so far. Although this could top it.

Seems to me his top ones are very much alike quality- and story-wise. And there's nothing disparaging about what I'm saying here.

He seems to be a lot more Hit than Miss.

Offhand I can't think of anyone who doesn't have some clunkers, even Joseph Conrad (even though I can't think of a JC clunker right this moment).

I see 26 novels listed on his Wikipedia. I suspect there's some real bad ones in there. It's an instinct of mine.

Found a copy of Sins of the Father. Short story collection. Looks promising.

That might be good. I can picture JVH being good at short stories.
