So very near the end and it’s looking like the ending may be promising

Um, well things definitely changed quickly 😅

The book has progressed a lot more in the last 150 pages but I do think that some of what the author writes could be condensed and not repeated as much as it is. Despite this, the character development is strong, I do prefer peter’s character a bit more than Alice’s at the moment.

I feel like this is a bit more of a love story than I first thought it would be, which isn’t a bad thing. I am having to research a lot of words though, I’m not sure if that’s just me being uneducated but I feel like I need to look on google for something or other every few pages 😅

This is shedding a lot of light on the idea of graduate study potentially ruining people’s lives and that working as a tenured professor or anything to do with academia doesn’t really seem worth it. Alice is literally giving up 30 years of her life for a possibility of more hardship that she may not even receive because she’s so burnt out. It doesn’t sound all that fun. Also, she can be a little annoying.

I have to say, this has been one of the most interesting introductions to a book I have read. Kaung is a very intelligent writer and extremely descriptive. I have only read 29 pages and if it weren’t for my eyes going blurry from drowsiness and that the book is 600 pages long, I would sit and read the whole thing!
