A solid start and premise, but I feel like the chapters didn't skip enough time, except for the last one which skipped too much.

That's a sad one. I figured Joel wasn't as dead ad claimed and that he'd come back as a villain, but didn't think it would go down this badly for everyone involved.

Luthor needs his comeuppance, too. Hopefully next time.

I appreciate how these Elseworld stories don't need to keep up plot armor, particularly when it's about passing the torch, so someone would have to die sooner or later... but I didn't really like how this one turned out. He went down like a chump.

The ultimate resolution I still liked, though. Wonder if the authors have read their Phantom.

Proper silver-age atmosphere. Ridiculous superpowers and all.

A little disappointed that Luthor doesn't have his original red hair. Looks too much like Ultra-Humanite here. There was a whole thing about it way back when, too...

I saw the new Superman film the other day. It was fine, but really, in my mind, Superman and Batman always belong to the thirties when they were created. I always like these stories the best. But then, I just like thirties as a story setting in general. All the spy stuff and pulp fiction...

Interesting to see the return of the rougher early Superman, too.
