Also not loving this one all that much :( Having the chunk of the novel in first person from the perspective of an 11 year old was a choice. We don't ever really get much of an explanation as to why being a Bastard is such a bad thing. It feels unjustified in the face of these strange religions. Why go through the trouble of creating all this world building just to hold on to notions of purity from our world????
