I have felt a similar strength within the Carlisle Community when hundreds of people showed up at the football field for a prayer night for Lucy.

The song is fitting because they do not know the future with the strings, and they can only go along with whtever happens.

I would be honest with them on how I’m feeling and be understanding of their position and feelings.

Right away, I did not have a good feeling about the politician. He seemed sleazy right away, but after reading his nephews chapter, I knew that feeling was right. His nephew quotes him saying, “And who would’ve thought that getting knocked up was the only good thing that woman would ever do?” I do not agree with his choice to out his opponent. I’m my opinion, string length should not be public knowledge.

I do believe in miracles. The small ones for sure and the big ones too. The thing about miracles is that you cannot look for them, they just happen. I think that’s what I love about them. No one is promised a miracle, no situation guarantees a miracle. They are unpredictable and add to the great unknown in life.

If I had a long string, I would not test it… to an extreme level. I think I would push the boundaries a little bit. I have always been a “scaredy cat” so having a long string would make me more brave, but not quite fearless.

The multiple perspectives in this book makes it feel more chaotic, while also giving the reader a better understanding of the world. It is chaotic because the reader is trying to keep track of all the different characters and their lives. However, we get a better understanding from this. We see how “short stringers” lives and worry like Maura, we see how people refuse to look at their boxes live like Amie.

Nina is in a hard place right now. While her string is long, her girlfriend of two years has a short string. Nina's physical state can be described as sick. While she is not actually sick, she is sick over the difference in their strings. Her emotional state is distraught. Her psychological state is close minded.
