“I refused to give in to the pressure of the silence” I cannot put this book down, she is an incredibly compelling author and seamlessly weaves stories from her life together while also detailing the changes that she’s trying to enact AND the discrimination she faces day to day.

Highly recommend everyone to read this book even though I’m only 1/3 of the way through, Heumann paints her experience with disability in a way that makes it impossible NOT to understand, and I especially found enlightening the portion where she talked about having to plan how much she’d drink around when people would be around to help her use the bathroom, and just how inaccessible society is to the disabled.
