I picked up this book from the library yesterday and decided to read a single chapter this morning before work ....and wow, I was completely transfixed and energized by the first 28 pages! Sometimes feminist reads can be a bit challenging to get through (looking at you, Feminism in the Academy, which has been sitting on my shelf forever), but I love how Hellen manages to make her points feel so clear and accessible

I am slowly consuming this one, each of these difficult women shines a perspective that is both important and often not easily identified or talked about.,,,Being difficult gives you leverage but it is also exhausting. To think we are standing on this mountain because these women before us made the hill less stepper for us to climb and deserve to be revered.

Really enjoying this one so far. Helen Lewis blends history, humor, and sharp commentary to show that progress has always relied on women who refused to play nice. Each chapter highlights a different kind of “difficult” .... from the suffragettes to campaigners for sexual freedom and workplace equality ...reminding me how messy and human real change is.
