It’s quite interesting to see how they used to write in the early 1900s. I think it’s a bit strange how they casually say things like” don’t be an ass”. They seemed very proper during that time and I wouldn’t expect them to write that in this sort of book. They also gossip and tell stories and are in very realistic situations. Eg Toad maybe says something strange and Mole and Rat look at each.
