The ending to the first book was bittersweet with the team losing one of their men. The relationship between Lukian and Peren is interesting because of her past. It's interesting to watch the relationships between her friends and his team develop. Especially when Missy is so reluctant or oblivious to Rio's attention and Mel at first had an intense attraction to the man that lost his life in the first book.
