The introduction placed in a small burrow of the vast histories of the world is a nice touch to ease readers across the incited journey ahead.

Having the names and jobs of the various hobbit families felt like going through my old barrio

Can’t help but feel bad for Gandalf having to fight a friend he’s known for ages. I believe the rings temptation is just enhancing who bilbo had already become in the hobbit

The foreword of this edition is quite captivating and kind to read.

The introduction gives you a small journey of the printed history of TLOTR which is super interesting to me.

Tolkiens second editions foreword comes with great lines like “if the great war resembled the real war , sauron wouldn’t have been defeated but captured” and “as the story grew it put down its roots into the past”
