Do you recommend the series ?

For most people, yes. But it's good to know that the series starts VERY slow and the first couple books are not very good. Plus, Harry has a strong male gaze that turns some people off. The ultimate highs outweigh the lows, in my opinion.

I feel like the first book always gets a little too much flak. I actually think it did the crime noir thing best out of all the books in the series, something that in the later installments gets pushed to the background in favor of more epicness. The second book is pretty meh though :-)

Yeah, book 2 is definitely the low point of the series. And I agree that the noir elements were spot on in book one, but it made it incredibly predictable.
