Chapter on the rate of profit and related laws. Harvey makes interesting observations of the dire situation of the 2020s compared to the 1858 acute account by Marx. But still laments that the notes taken by Marx are not the same as the book written ten year later.

Chapter on Fixed and Circulating Capital.
It overlaps the previous one on the fixed capital issue, as Marx choses to take notes with several references to previous studies.
Harvey somewhat gets whiny about some "incomplete or vague" approaches by Marx, but he elaborates further down the pages.

The 9th chapter deals with fixed capital and machinery. Harvey immerses himself into the concepts of automation and technology, both used to disempower the workers n order to obtain productivity forced by capitalist competition.

Chapter 8, finished. Took a while, mostly because of the very enlightening digression. There is an overlapping on the fixed capital issue.

Chapter 5 Capital’s Becoming: Past, Present and Future.
“ Thus endeth, as they say, the first lesson on how to investigate the becoming of capital with historical materialist tools.”
But after few pages, Harvey actually reads the famous Precapitalist Economic Formations section. And just like Hobsbawm, falls shy off target. Still interesting concepts about Marx’s double consciousness.

Chapter 5 Production and Realization
Pages 373-458
Harvey did really enjoy this section. Several key concepts are developed. And he quotes on p 181 how Marx with a language worthy of James Joyce, in a single sentence condensed his theory on the relation between production and realisation.

Alien capital meets alien labour.

Reached the end of Grundrisse’s chapter on money. Some interesting observations by Harvey.
