Childe Harold’s Pilgrimage is a four canto travelogue. Byron ends in calling it a “protracted dream” whereby our pilgrim is “traced to a scene” where “memories dwell.” This reference to Buynan’s Pilgrim’s Progress also highlights something unique of Byron. He has moved the Grand Tour to include Greece, and begun to celebrate the Greco-Roman ruins.
