i don't know if everyone in this book is eccentric. some of them (for example the multiple people who dress up like Robin Hood) seem to be what we could call today cosplayers, and that's kind of normal?

also i think there is a problem with their sample, the women are all off the scale as "dominant/assertive" and none "shy/timid". the way they recruited subjects, they're all kind of performatively flamboyant...

this started out promising but isn't what i expected. it seems to be a literature review rather than an original study.

the study subjects also seem to skew to being the "mad scientist/inventor" type and it seems quite narrow

Found this from reading about how cozy mysteries always have an eccentric character and have just finished the introduction. This book is EXACTLY my sort of thing! I like that they're presenting living a non-conformist lifestyle as a viable option (I'll probably end up like one of these people in the last third of my life) and that they're happy/content
