Page 137 and I’ve officially fallen under this book’s spell. Once I got past the early surprises, the story revealed its true nature. Wild, mysterious, and impossible to resist. By chapter four, it had me completely ensnared.

I definitely misjudged it at first, but I’m so glad I didn’t cast it aside. It’s been ages since I’ve felt this connected to a character, like finding a kindred spirit in the woods. 🌿✨

A little over a third of the way finished now, and the story is coming together. I still stand by the belief that this is anything but a horror novel (so far) and definitely seems to fit considerably better in fantasy. Regardless, I am starting to like it.

The book is getting……strange…

It’s turning out to be a bit more eccentric than I had originally anticipated, but I’m sticking with it. It is starting to feel less horror and more mythological fantasy, and that’s not necessarily a good thing for me as I have never been a fan of mythology or fantasy. But I’m trying to remain open-minded.

I drove 45-minutes to Barnes & Noble to get 'The Black Farm' which I had reserved online, but saw this on the shelf and picked it up in addition. The cover piqued my interest, so I decided to crack this one open first. I'm on the third chapter now and it's a great read so far.
