Vnfitly furnisht with thy bag and booke,
Where I expected one with shield and spere,
To proue some deedes of arms vpon an equall pere.

Onto book five
Book four Canto XI WTF was that? Naming the seas, the rivers & streams that eventually feed the Thames, then throwing in Irish one just because Spenser can - it’s that bizarre it’s almost worth a blog post of its own!!! (Or five!!)

Where I with sound of trompe will also rest a whyle.
Spenser may have a rest for a while, I’ll soldier on - take about endless knight’s battles in tournaments, some of these guys get up three times after they’ve been killed. (Do you think it might be allegorical?)

I must admit this is the toughest thing I’ve ever read, ‘Ulysses’ pales into insignificance, however as I pass half way, doing at least one canto per day I am now confident the beast will be slain.

Tonymess wrote: "Hate to disappoint but highly unlikely I’ll review this. What do you say?"I've never read it, and I probably won't, because English is my third language and I wouldn't even understand it!
