Redoubt = a temporary or supplementary fortification, typically square or polygonal and without flanking defenses.

Drab = lacking brightness or interest; drearily dull.

Garishness is the quality of being tastelessly showy, excessively colorful, or vulgar.

Teal = a small freshwater duck, typically with a greenish band on the wing that is most prominent in flight.

Scrawny = excessively thin or bony.

Whittle = carve (wood) into an object by repeatedly cutting small slices from it (stružlikať).

Crag = a steep or rugged cliff or rock face.

Burr = a whirring sound, such as a phone ringing tone or the sound of cogs turning.

Mangy = in poor condition; shabby.
