There are parts I don’t quite agree with; either from having not experienced life that way or aversion to the cynicism than from an abhorrence of his conclusions. Nevertheless I am stricken by how he continues to expresses my own thoughts so keenly. Because how can a stranger (no matter that he lived briefly in South Africa, no matter the import that brings) say what I think so accurately?

It is true what’s said to be one of the joys of reading, to find in a passage that another has expressed what you have so keenly known, or felt, in ways that are so exact you could very well have written them yourself. I have been a dreamer most of my life, a thinker of sorts of all random shapes, and in Fernando Pessoa I see a fellow traveler, and am I cheering!
