Before I discovered Salvatore’s “Drizzt” series, I believed that a fantasy without even some romance in it would be uninteresting, but you know what? We have an adventure to go on, evil to vanquish, nobody has the time to be sidetracked by romance. I also realized that I don’t like Romantasy. Give me Fantasy, give me Romance, give me Romantic Fantasy, and give me Fantasy Romance. But Romantasy? No, thanks!

The book has been nonstop action, but the last 25% so far! INCREDIBLE, and somehow manages to even be more action-y. Ignore snobs who say this was written for “teenage boys of the ‘80s.” The series is a classic for a reason. This is pure adventure-fantasy, no romance (nothing against romance; just know what you’re getting yourself into).

There’s a battle every three pages, but I’m reading this for the plot! Lol. But seriously, the plot and side quests are great.

What a fascinating novel, so far.
Here’s my advice for how to enjoy it better: just go with it. Let it lead you. Don’t analyze what the story is saying, don’t try to commit facts to memory, don’t look for subtexts or nuances, etc. It’s the mind of book where you should just relax and let it take the lead. Trust the author, take a more passive approach. Read it the opposite way of how you were taught to.

Wow, this book is really gaining momentum! R.A. Salvatore writes action so well. And the pacing of this book? It’s high-action, there’s always something going on, but in the best way. Even when Salvatore gives us “breathing room” in between of intense scenes, the “light” scenes are still meaningful and leading to something greater.

Oh, wow! Wow! I’m glad I stuck it out. Okay, the book’s been good since the first page, so you don’t have to worry about getting bored at any point, but it just went from good to GREAT! Honestly, though, how could you not love Drizzt Do’Urden? He’s written TO be loved! Lol.
