What do I have to do now to make my reviews visible? Jeez, is it too much to ask for the basic functions of GR to work???!!! 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯

Not today's new one, even though this one is not important. I'll wait until tomorrow with the other books. I'm so annoyed that every day it feels like something else isn't working...

patrícia GR’s been such a pain lately… If I could export all my books and friends to StoryGraph, I’d leave in a heartbeat! That site has so much potential, but every time I try, I end up missing this—the connection with people I feel like I already know.***

I only use StoryGraph for the statistics. I don’t like the review and chat functions, GR is still better I think 😩 but maybe it will change someday… one can only hope.

M patrícia, I think it is relatively easy to import your goodreads history to import it to storygraph if you want! Use the desktop version on a computer, go to my books, on the left hand side bar right at bottom there is

Import and export

But I got a storygraph account I just do not use, it does not have the thing I value more on goodreads and worth every bug which is ability to comment and to filter friends reviews on top. Also storygraph reviews seem a bit more basic to me so I will stick around as long as the site does.

Evie I think if you are able to clear your cache I have heard that it helps but I find it mind numblingly frustrating when GR does this

Kati *☆・゚ Dru, I have the very same problem right now. Don’t know what that is.

Kati *☆・゚ @patrícia, it’s actually really super easy to export all your GR data and leave. But as for StoyGraph… it’s still basically only a bookshelf with stats. The whole social aspects we enjoy here is still missing. You can’t even interact with reviews or add friends to follow or something.

patrícia @M @Kati I know how to export import, what I would miss is the friends 🙏🫠

trice (semi ia) frr half of my friends' reviews are missing from my feed 😶

message 11: by Drusilla (new)

Drusilla Well, I've now cleared the cache several times and logged out of all my devices. Then I wrote a new review to test it out. Yay, it's not showing up on my profile and therefore not in the feed. Great... I'll just read for now and wait to see if it works tomorrow 😭😩😪

message 12: by Brooke (new)

Brooke It’s happening to me, too! 😭 haven’t tested it out this morning yet, but yesterday it wasn’t showing up. Lmk if it works for you and if you did anything to fix it 🤞🏼✨ hopefully it was just glitchy and goes back to normal.

How does one..."clear the chache"? This is probably some very obvious thing everyone knows and I don't...! But if it is complicated no worries I will look it up!

M Sandy, it is related to clearing the internal memory of whatever computer program (browser, app) you are using to check goodreads. It is also called "deleting browser data" or similar names.

If it is a browser (chrome, safari, edge, whatever) there is usually a setting for that. I usually only delete cookies which is part of clearing cache. But a warning, clearing cache all together can delete credentials to a lot of places you have been logged into before and delete histories, so usually I only do something even more specific which is clearing cookies for one domain only.

For example on chrome on desktop, click 3 vertical dots on the upper right corner for a menu, scroll down till settings, pick settings, search settings for cookies (or deleting browser data if you want to delete everything), select "site settings", select "view permissions and data stored across sites" and there you have it all cookies for all sites. You can search for goodreads (and delete it, and will loose login) but it is also useful to check because some sites can have huge cookies data, and you can delete from sites you want to start fresh of anyway(airline tickets and stuff like that where price). But specifics will vary on mobile/desktop and according to what program it is.
