This section (Longing) was a tough, but poignant read. This is especially true I feel for daughters who have lost their mothers. Poems like “The Hospital”, “Going Home”, “I Came Back”, and “I Know You Loved Me” had me in a puddle of tears by the end. In the end, losing your mother makes you realize that she, too, was just a girl, and that’s a tough pill to swallow

“That Little Girl” absolutely floored me, and did in fact “smack me like a wave.” Ooh Lordy…
