1. They took the grandmother to the hospital but left the dog alone, dying on the floor?!!
2. I can't tell if the author is trying to draw attention to racist attitudes in the 90s or is just repeating them. Hopefully he manages to make that clear.
3. From the first chapter, it was clear that this was a book written by a man. The character's voices aren't the worst I've read, but they still don't sound like women.
