And I thought that neither Edward nor Willoughby could be redeemed. It makes me realize how many books I've read where the turns and twists of characters were harsh and absolute and lacked the attention to detail and the delicacy with which Jane Austen writes her characters.

That the attitude most accepted by society (sensibility) is also the attitude most sanctioned and judged... is tragic. And that sense, founded on smart, rational thinking, can bring about the loss of a loved one and utter misery - what tragic parallels came up in Colonel Brandon's story and Willoughby's shameful behaviour!

Again... admiring Jane Austen's attention to detail in complex social situations. The description of Lucy's character was so intricate and realistic; her skills in developing characters are masterful.

It's kind of losing me a little bit right now because I wanna know what's up with Willoughby and whether Edward is there to finally be real with Elinor or not. I know I gotta be patient lol but it's my first time reading it so AAAAH

For some reason Jane Austen brings the 11 year old romance novel reader me back lol. Like, he gave her a HORSE... HOW ROMANTIC IS THAT?? (Feel bad for Colonel Brandon though. He doesn't deserve all this bullying.)

Very charming book so far. Austen's wit and attention to detail is a pleasure to read. I have only read Northanger Abbey by her so far - this book seems to go into a completely different direction. I'm excited to see where it leads!
