However, since it is actually a series of stories, it does not have a flow and it is not a fast read. I’ve been reading it for almost 2 months and finished a few other books meanwhile.

A very slow read for sure. Did you consider to read other Sci Fi book at the same time?
Hopefully those stories will all come together?!! It says it’s a novel. It’s on my tbr list but if it’s a bunch of short stories, I’m not interested…. I hope it comes together and is really good in the end!

They are a bunch of people on pilgrimage to the Shrike, a being of some sort, and each tells their story of why they are there.Between tales things happen so it's a novel with side stories. All those stories are important to the bigger picture. However, the resolution will be in the 2nd volume. It;s a masterpiece, stories none withstanding.

Contact is probably a not written in an interesting way of story telling, but it has some interesting concepts. Finished it a few months ago it didn’t reach my expectation but not bad.
