Iconic story but some of it could have been cut down. I think I would have enjoyed an abridged version more.

Very entertaining and now I want to visit Windsor castle.

Pretty good.

The Broken Heart: D-
We get it bro, you think women are weak. Please just get back to your quirky stories.

Rural life in England: C-
I like the quiet countryside too but I found this quite boring.

English Writers on America: C+
Kind of boring but I liked the dunking on England at the beginning of the essay. Also interesting to see no one took Irving’s heed of starting prejudices against England. Chewsday innit!

Rip Van Winkle
A+
Very funny and an interesting look at the revolutionary war from the common man perspective. Side note if I was Rip’s wife I would probably nag at him too. We have a family to feed why can’t you just tend to the crops? As long as you are not his wife, Rip is a very lovable and maybe even a relatable character.

The Wife: D-
Severely outdated and sexist but there are some good lines sprinkled in.
