i literally stopped breathing at this end of the chapter OMG wth Playfair ??? one thing i don’t understand is why they didn’t agree on 1 version : they started by saying the professor left the boat and was supposed to meet them later at the house they should’ve stuck w that and pretended they never saw him again after 😭 they’re truly all over the place but maybe that’s actually realistic 💀
