Sam Hawkins So... I have gotten farther and farther into this book and it seems that the author is doing a few things that are making me a bit angry. To begin, there are very obvious biases that are imposed on the Irish, the Catholics, and the Labour / Liberal parties. Next, it feels as though, as time moves throughout the novel, we are skipping through so much time. While there is so much to cover in one chapter, there was a chapter where we covered the beginning of WW2 (1939) all the way up to the beginning of the Thatcher administration (1979). I understand that there are comparisons that can be made between different Prime Ministers and different governments, but it just feels like we are grouping very large amounts of time together as the book progresses.
