The narrative is good, but this is not a book for history nerds. The amount of detail (from both firsthand accounts and the authors own summations, intuitions, etc) is severely lacking. Narrative flow is the driving force here, but unfortunately the speed it can drive is governed by the fact that not much narratively interesting shit can happen in the middle of the Antarctic.
