I heard someone say that authors of “classics” are known to go on tangents and that’s what this feels like to be, a big tangent. Captain Wentworth has barely been in the book, building a relationship with Louisa! Lady Russell wants Anne to marry Mr Elliot. Mr Elliot is the shady one. I thought there would be more between Anne and Wentworth 🤷♀️

I just wanted to read this and understand it thoroughly without commenting.
“I can no longer sit in silence. I must speak to you by such means as are within my reach. You pierce my soul. I am half agony, half hope. Tell me not that I am too late that such precious feelings are gone for ever.” ❤️
It’s the declarations of love that make these old stories the best stories!

“he had a heart returning to her at least; that anger, resentment, avoidance were no more; and that they were succeeded not merely by friendship and regard but by the tenderness of the past; yes some share of the tenderness of the past. She could not contemplate the change as implying less. He must love her.
-Ma’am… you got all that from a 30 min conversation?!

I for sure thought the cousin Elliot knew of Anne and was visiting the family in hopes of seeing her. Why didn’t Benwick “call on” her at Lady Russel’s place? Im predicting he ends up with Louisa. Will
wentworth be jealous if she starts a relationship with Mr Elliot? Anne seems so kind and caring. She helps everyone and the Musgroves all like her.

Louisa’s fall and knock out was the most climactic even yet. Im happy they all had a good time before that. I am also glad that Anne is useful and a kind companion. Something other than her looks. Which i guess makes her stand out from her family. Mary sucks. I don’t like Captain Wentworth much, but he seems concerned, or guilty, about what happened to Louisa. What will happen when Anne goes back to Kellylynch?

Did she know what she was doing when she named the cousins “Hayter”? Because Charles is a Frederick hater for sure!
I cannot believe Wentworth implied thar Anne is ugly! “So altered that he should not have known her again!”
He is so bitter and I doubt he thinks this at all.
I predict that Henrietta will choose Hayter because Mary doesn’t want her to

“Poor Richard” he had been nothing better than a thick-headed, unfeeling, unprofitable Dick Musgrove
Fredrick Wentworth - “a fine dashing fellow, only two perticular about the school-master”

Okay so we are not starting at the beginning of the love story, we are starting when they meet up again. I read the back where it said “eight years later” but I thought they would meet now? Idk What has he done that will keep them apart? I predict that he is engaged or courting someone or the family tries to push the sister on him.

Debating on whether I want to read the notes now or after the actual book. The father already sounds like an a-hole. I always feel a bit stupid when reading older books, but I think if I want to go on a “classics” journey, Jane Austen is s good place to start. I’ve had this book for a long time so I might as well try to read it.
