End of part 2. I'm ready for the fun to begin.

After Sanderson's terse writing style it so refreshing to read the copious the words Victor Hugo puts on a page. *chef's kiss*

End of part 1: Fantine

End of book 5 "The Fall".
Meeting Fantine and following her tragedy, spiraling into a hopeless abyss. I enjoy Hugo's social comentary regarding women in the past few books focussing on Fantine in particular and the abuse she's suffered. But truely, Fantine story is horribly tragic. Book 5 ends her downward spiral and Fantine finally knows hope again. But we all know her unfortunate fate to come.

And so book 2 ends; introducing Jean Valjean and his tranformation into darkness and then to the light.

Facts about this 2022 translation: Using 2 full length editions of the French "Les miserables", it is the first full length and unedited Dutch translation since the original came out in France,1862.
