In case you're not aware, when a book is optioned by a film studio, the screenplays rarely if ever mirror the book for marketing purposes. The Coppola version of this book is closer but even there, creative liberties were taken..Same holds true with Frankenstein

PS, you might enjoy Powers of Darkness which is based on a Bram Stoker manuscript that wasn't discovered until '86 and is packed with footnotes, illustrations and diagrams and the story differs greatly from this one

I actually have never seen any of the movies based on this book, I was planning on watching them after finishing it, I was kinda just wondered where he is but I'll definitely check out powers of darkness tysm for the recommendation!
