ok i was expecting fantastical vibes and there’s an element of that, but this is decidedly a dystopian novel. which i am loving. caroline o’donoghue’s writing is such a uniquely satisfying mix of funny and sharply observant and almost cozy in its familiarity, even amid the bleak circumstances. such a different genre than the rachel incident but off to a strong start.
