This chapter was much better than the last one. However, it still has that sensationalist written by a journalist feel. It’s missing the social scientist commentary it needs (and I have tried to fill in with my notes) to be actually impactful.

This chapter was a little better than the last one, but I still am not a fan of his writing. The data provided by social scientists and details about their studies was so interesting, but then this author who’s just a journalist tries to add a bunch of commentary that’s mostly pointless and rambling.

I’m reading this for class. I honestly thought it would be more interesting and well written. It has good points, but there’s too many tangents to get there. Lots about the authors personal life where I frankly do not care. Also, the author’s constant “tricking” the reader is greatly reducing my trust in them at all.

This chapter was better than many of the others in my opinion. It was interesting to learn about how the Holocaust was so little known in the 1970s, when that doesn’t seem like long ago (neither was the Holocaust). Reading about this perspective of how it was discussed/not reminded me of learning about the Tulsa Race Massacre and how it was so swept under the rug by those who went through it, to where they wouldn’t even tell their kids. I had no idea the Holocaust was treated the same way by many survivors.
