I feel very conflicted about this book because the author has a fascinating closeness to the material, but ultimately it’s just poorly written. There are many clunky, repetitive lines that don’t illuminate or describe anything at all. The narrative is so simplistic (writing this on page 69), I can’t imagine this going in for more 300 pages. No internal conflict or nuance re Marsha at all
