The section on internships is SOOOO accurate - no pay to fulfill this idea that if you really love something / want to do it, you will start it without pay if you have to. Insane. I never took an internship with no pay knowing there were internships WITH pay for this reason.

Okay wait this book is growing on me - my fav parts so far = the anecdotal stories of the people she interviews who experience it. However, wish she had a little more of that and a little less of the history / research overload (especially if you know a lot of the history / gender dynamics of this time already), but still good so far

Didnt like Sarah Jaffe’s critique on Jane Austen books and “Marriage Story” being a way to love the home life and get away from the work life when actually the home is just as hard of work - no arguments against that. But that’s not the entire message sent here and to summarize it up as that feels like it’s lacking in analysis. They message a sort of feminist upbringing to cherish women’s work overall.
