The story is anchored in modern day technological issues and protests against them. Privacy, data, and what happens to data, all important food for thought "background" to the intrigue and the friendship between Joe and Nate.
As always, a member of Joe's family is sucked into the drama, adding a bit of flare and stakes to the plot.
