rereads for the win!

Wow this is going exactly as I had heard. Rushed beginning, but great once we get to the school. I already love the characters and want to read the entire series to see them grow. The magic system is its very own thing as well. This doesn't feel as middle-grade as I expected, which I'm not complaining haha

Boy did the author run to get the human parents out of the way.

It's like Regan said, the beginning feels rushed and superficial as if the author was like "let's just get to the good part already". I'm glad I knew that before picking it up because I would've been annoyed otherwise. The glimpses of elven culture seem interesting though.
