At the same time, I felt a twinge of resentment at being treated like a child. I had been with Evangeline for the majority of my life. I contributed as much, if not more, than she did. I deserved to be treated like an equal. I couldn't spend the rest of my life subordinate to her. At some point, she was going to have to recognize that I wasn't a child anymore.
