switched to audiobook, which has made the writing style much more bearable since i'm too busy trying to listen to make such critiques. i get that the narrator is supposed to be insufferable... but... ... ... yeah. she is insufferable. it was really preventing me from getting into this book. anyway, with the chapters i just read, i'm a bit more intrigued now.

so far i think it's pretty corny but hopefully the story will make up for that. these are fully grown adults in an mfa program but it reads like a high school drama. so...
