Sarah Mac Is this a standalone?

Kristina Seems like it. It’s very good so far. I was buddy reading with Dab but she couldn’t stop reading and I got hung up on the World Series lol.

Sarah Mac Understandable. It’s cut into my reading time as well, lol.

Good re: standalone. I’m not big on mystery series but would like to try this author sometime.

Kristina Yes this is not connected to any of her other series so no cross over character pop ups either. Her other stuff is set in Victorian England and this is gilded age Chicago. It’s also dark mystery romance.

JAYS IN SIX!

Sarah Mac Wooooo! Put on the plaid shirts & hats with fuzzy ear flaps, MLB.

Kristina It’s gonna be a Halloween costume party at the dome

Sarah Mac I’d much rather see goofy costumes than the stupid celebrities in Dodger Stadium. 🤮

message 8: by Dab (new) - rated it 5 stars

Dab We’re still buddy reading, it’s just that you can’t spoil it for me. See? I made it easier for you!

I liked watching the celebrities cry hehe

Yes we are. We always do a loose buddy read anyway. Or when I’m ahead, a loose lip buddy read.

Sarah Mac I love how they kept showing Jason Bateman & Chris Pine in “disguise” with sunglasses & a hat. Who gives a flying fuck?! 😑

Merry What. They were in disguise. I could run into them in the street and would recognize them lol since its been so long since I was them in a show.

Merry Dab's review really got my attention. The book blurb only sounds so so. I added it after reading her review.

I didn’t read the blurb, the book showed up in my email so I wasn’t turn off by it lol. It’s weird but I hardly ever read blurbs anyway, i have been burned by them too many times.

I didn’t see those guy. Prolly cause their disguises were so good. Ahahah

Sarah Mac “In disguise” only in the loosest sense, so that People magazine could still report on them to keep their careers on life support. Lol. Honestly, did anyone EVER care what Jason Bateman does? 😂 And I haven’t noticed Chris Pine in years, not since he played Captain Kirk. *fail horn*

Kristina I dunno, ozark was pretty good so Bateman is ok, but he’s no big celebrity lol. Chris pine I can’t distinguish from all the other Chris’
