I don't get why Marie doesn't want to see a doctor. The boy's dad thinks it is because she doesn’t like the normal type of treatment, and would rather see a doctor that specializes in some sort of native american medicine. I really doubt that's true but I have not gotten far enough into the book to find out. If anybody has any ideas of what the actual reason is please feel free to share.

It was interesting that David felt relieved after his uncles suicide. I thought that he would be more relieved when his uncle was moved to the jail. But after his uncle died he thought things would just go back to normal. Which would just never happen, you now always have the memory of your uncle that raped woman and then killed himself in your basement in your mind.

When I first read the part where Wes was going to let Frank out I actually thought he was going to. He had a lot of good reasons as well. It would stop Julien from sending more men to break him out. It would relieve the whole family from a bunch of stress and fear. And most importantly, Gail said he would like him to do it. Saving her from worrying about David and everybody else all the time.

I’m really confused why Wes put Uncle Frank in their house. Even if Uncle Frank asked you to keep his arrest on the low, why listen to him. He is a sex offender and you willingly put him in your house with your wife and son. We see how much Julien favors Frank over Wes. It is crazy that Julien just said “Is this why I gave you that goddamn badge?” when talking about Frank.

It seems that I may be right that Uncle Frank killed Marie. The one thing I am questioning is if Len saw something why didn’t he say anything. It is probably because he feels like he owes something to grandpa. I also feel that grandpa is probably involved with this whole thing. He probably told Uncle Frank to do it to save his reputation.

I wouldn't say I'm surprised that Marie ended up dying but I am a little confused. In the book she said she felt stronger which means she felt better. But then the next day she dies. I feel that there is something else in play, maybe uncle Frank did something to kill her. It doesn’t feel too obvious but that is exactly what I feel happened.

I found it interesting that uncle Frank has always been into native american girls. At first I thought he just started to assault them because of the sexual problem with his wife Gloria. But I’ve learned from grandpa that even before he left for war he was “messing around” with girls from the reservation. It really change my look on why he might be doing these things.

I was surprised that the reason Marie didn’t want to see uncle Frank was because of what he did to native american women. I don’t understand why he would do such a thing. It is stated in the book that he has a beautiful wife but she cannot bear a child. This might be the reason but I severely doubt it, there is likely a different reason why he does it.

I found it interesting that the mom wanted to move because of the dad but mainly the boy. I find it hard to believe that a mom would be complaining about their son going outside too much even if it hindered their social skills. I know my mom would be ecstatic if I went outside as much as the main character, but that is in this time where we are all stuck inside on our screens.
