The book has weird pacing to it. There’s a lot of ‘something happens and they stay there a few days, then something else happens and they stay there for a few days’. I can tell the author is not a plotter. I like the book so far.

Watching the movie first was definitely a mistake. I can see just how much creative liberty the producers took. Poor little Bilbo hasn’t had to do anything for himself yet. Gandalf is always there to save the party. It’s quite frustrating. I want to see how Bilbo thinks under pressure and if he has any courage. It’s one thing to go on an adventure, but completely different to be a part of an adventure.
