Svid managed to get rid of rask by taking a taxi to go out of town however got out when rask left to the market where he stood on a bridge in thought and svid set to meet dounia and talk to her about the letter he wrote. She passed by rask to go talk to svid and they went to his apartment telling her that rask killed the woman. Then they get into a verbal fight where she pulled a gun and shoots him but only grazed.

Svid tells rask about his past history with women marfa he cheated on then got set rules about what to and not to do. Then they got maids and one was Dounia which he went on about how shes easily flattered but it went tits up. Then he tells that he is getting married to a 16 year old but when he got to petersburg he went to a dance class and saw a mum n 13 yo daughter n paid for their education. To gross rask out ig.

Rask leaves his apartment and heads to svid where he takes a wrong turn to a tavern which happens to have svid sitting in it. Rask goes in and makes his statement about if svid tells dounia about what he did he will kill him. Svod says Theres no need and he just wants to be friends while talking about other random things.

Rask gets approached by raz about why he is a knob to his family and why he doesnt care for them. Rask then tells raz that he has his blessing for him to take care of his sister. As raz walks out he tells rask that one of the builders confessed to the murder, told to him by porfiry. Rask questions him aggitated and while raz walks out and contemplates he notices that rask fits the murderer better and sets to find out

Lebe knocks at sonias house and tells em that kat has gone mad, making kids perform and sing in public street, hittin them. Then after they all get there and see her, a cop comes to tell her to stop and the kids run away out of fear. Kat runs after but collapses while coughing blood. Then taken to sonias house and dies. Svid comes to talk to rask and drops hints that he knows what he told sonia cuz he lives next door

Rask goes to sonia’s place then beats around the bush but eventually tells her what he did. He tells her he did it cuz he had the idea in his head that he wanted to see if he was a bug like everyone else or someone above them (the robbery was a benefit). Sonia is appalled but comforts rask by offering him a cross and saying he must repent against the evil that took him over so he can continue his life unburdened.

Pyotr came in midway and accused sonia of stealing 100 from him but it was unraveled that lebe saw him plant the money in her pocket and rask said that he was doing it to try get back with his sister. Pyotr gets bullied out then the stupid landlady amalia kicks out katerina and her family

The funeral wasn’t attended by any important/wanted people but a bunch of slobs turned up for the free food so Katerina got more agitated as it progressed into verbal jabs, threats and then a fight between katerina and amalia (landlady), about katerina’s colonel dad and amalia’s dad who knew respectable guests that didnt turn up so kat says her dad is a bum, then pyotr turns up just before they get physical.

Learn that pyotr is living with lebe and that pyotr constantly annoys him all day cuz he’s dumb tiny and ugly but can be useful for a more youthful opinion when needed for pyotrs work. They go to funeral afterparty for katerina ivanovna (married to the guy who got his head crushed by horse) and they give her daughter 10 roubles to help (prob to get back at rask). at the end still annoying lebe about free marriages

The people coming to the door had a prisoner who jumped through the door saying that he did the murder, with an axe, to porfiry who then quickly shewed rask out and told him to meet again another time. Goes to his apartment and debates his situation. a random man comes in bowing and saying sorry that he spread bad info to porf ab rask without evidence.
