How is it so far?

Better as it goes on. I thought it a bit slow at first. There are also a lot of characters to get to know. Once that's sorted out, the story becomes easier to follow. It does a good job of portraying life for black Americans in a small town in the segregated south when the civil rights movement was in its infancy.
