Incredibly advanced and nuanced for its time, especially socially.
Portraying Jekyll/Hyde with a personality disorder, which breaks away our worst, and this being enjoyed to some degree by Jekyll, makes it seem very amoral but also in some degree very human.
Not to the extent described, but speaking about the intrinsic thoughts of wrongdoing and those being unrestrictedly channeled without a controlling instance.
