Well… I’m now 63% into this dumpster fire and the only thing we have learned (which was actually way earlier on than this) is that Quinton is in serious need of therapy.

We get it, he craves control. This is mentioned multiple times every time we have to read from his POV. Maybe one of the chapters can skip having a paragraph about that.. doubt it though
