I love a good introduction, and I’m struck by the thoughtfulness here of including bad poetry, jingoistic poetry, and poets who started as jingoists or at least were naive in 1915, but who were wholly different two years later; this anthology allows space for all experiences, and seems the stronger for it — I’m also struck by how almost all of it was published at the time, this chorus of now-forgotten voices.
