Just finished chapter 3, even though I already knew about the b trees algorithm, I was surprised to learn about how much the branching factor plays a role in how many levels are in the b tree. I was also able to learn more about log based structured and the use of SSTables and LSM trees to make them more efficient.
Finally learned what a transaction is and the difference between OLTP and OLAP. Check out anti caching.
